 • PROJECTS - Teenagers from Cluj Napoca visit Gherla Penitentiary

On February 26 Humanitarian Rescue Foundation in collaboration with School Nicolae Titulescu Cluj Napoca and Gherla Penitentiary organized a visit of a group of 23 students from VIII grades, Ms director, psychologist and teachers from Nicolae Titulescu School in Gherla Penitentiary. The visit is part of the prevention of juvenile delinquency among students. We wanted that this visit to give students the opportunity to make contact with the prison. We started from the premise that a visit in prison and testimonies of persons deprived of their liberty will have an impact on teenagers to prevent exposure of criminal acts by their consequences.

The visit included a meeting with a group of inmates who have told how they came to prison and all the wrong decisions taken before arriving here. At this meeting attended inmates convicted for drug trafficking, theft, acts of violence. Students had the opportunity to ask questions and discuss issues of concern to them. Among the topics discussed in these meeting are the role of negative circle of friends you have to commit a crime, the group pressure, specifically teenage rebellious behavior, evaluating the consequences before an operation.

Besides meeting and discussion were visited: the prison school and psychosocial activities clubs, painting workshop, the prison newspaper, walking spaces of inmates, the prison museum and government buildings.

At the end of the visit the students remained impress saying that they will better weigh the consequences of their actions before they are done to avoid reaching crime and arriving in prison.
