Press Release
Good afternoon!

Rescue Foundation has the pleasure to invite you Tuesday 4th of August 2009 for the closing festivity of the bilateral European cooperation programme for life-long learning entitled “Communication-Education Empowerment Unite Society”. The event will take place at the Rescue Foundation headquarters on 4 Fabricii Street Cluj-Napoca between 11AM and 1PM.

The “Communication-Education Empowerment Unite Society” is a life-long learning programme intended to adult persons developed in partnership with other two organizations, form Sweden and Lithuania. The purpose of the project is the rehabilitation of socially marginalized persons by making them active citizens fully aware of their civil rights and responsibilities. The hypothesis this project is based on is the fact that people with special needs lacked proper education in order to develop these social abilities. Thus this project aimed at helping them to enhance personal and professional growth.

Among the project’s activities were included trainings for developing social and civic abilities; workshops on decision making issues; seminars on Romania, Swedish and Lithuanian history and traditions; English language courses and computer operating courses; exchange visits to partner organizations. The project’s beneficiaries were 10 persons coming from disadvantaged areas aged between 20 and 40 some of whom having mental disorders.

The programme was carried on for two years: from October 2007 until September 2009. After this programme the beneficiaries improved their self-esteem, their social abilities and improved their computer operating skills and English language skills. Moreover, six of them took part in a exchange visit in Sweden where they had the opportunity to practice the knowledge and the abilities acquired during this project and at the same time gained new information on partner-countries’ culture.
