On 22nd of October 2008, Rescue Humanitarian Foundation unfolded a new information and counseling meeting with the inmates adolescents from Aiud Penitentiary, within the “Social reintegration program of the underaged and young” from the penitentiary. This meeting had the following topic: Decision making: The chioce is yours. At this meeting 4 adolescents between 14-18 years old from Aiud Penitentiary participated.
The activities unfolded:
- watching a movie called “The chioce is yours”
- ebating the problems raised in the movie and refering to the personal experience of the participants
The movie “The choice is yours” presented the historic of the wrong decision making of a criminal. At first the decision he took, was a little bit different than the right one, and in time this difference increased and led him to a far away distance from the good decision.
The discussions that folowed were about the personal experience of participants, relative to the character from the movie, in order to break the vicious circle of the anti social behaviors and find methods of coping with the pressure of the group.
The purpose of that meeting was that of making aware the adolescents of the decisions he took. We are the ones that make the decision and no one else.We choose depending on different criteria we have when analizing the multitude of alternatives. But it happens that we overevaluate one criteria neglecting others. Other aspect we took into account when making a decision, is thinking of the consequences of it. The adolescents has to resist the pressure of the group and not commit delinquent acts. Together we found different strategies that the adolescents could use in the situation of group pressure.
At the end of the debate, we relaxed and play pool.
