From Prison to Kindergarten
The background
Inmates are a disadvantaged group, socially excluded. Each person realized a bad act for the other and for society and for this he paid with his freedom. It is wrong to evaluate inmates as a mean person without anything good. With this program we want to involve inmate in prosocial activities, in activities that help the others, and we try to make them aware about the roll that each one has to the goodness of the society. We consider that by involving the inmates in this activity that include refurnished the furniture for kindergarten, the inmate will become more responsible to the wellness of the society and also the society will look to the inmates as a normal human.
The objectives
- To involve the inmates to the wellness of the society
- To rise the social responsibility of inmates
- To change the perception that society has regarding the inmates
Target group
- 20 inmates from Aiud Penitentiary
The participants were selected having in mind the following criteria:
- willingness to involve
- artistically/practical abilities
The activities
- Rescue Humanitarian Foundation give to Aiud Penitentiary 4 tables and 10 chairs designed for kindergarten.
- Together with sponsors and donors, our foundation give to prison all the materials use for refurbished the furniture.
- Each piece was repaired, clean and paint in various colors makes this furniture more attractive to children.
- Every inmate received one piece of furniture. At each chair work one inmate and at each table works 2 inmates.
- At the end of refurbish, persons from Rescue Foundation and Aiud Penitentiary donate this furniture to a poor kindergarten from Leorint village, near Aiud.
- At the last activity were participating local mass media (tv, newspapers) and they present the activity to the society, and promote a change in perception that inmates has in society.
