Social and labor market integration of inmates
14th July, 2010, Cluj-Napoca
The reintegration of the people who were in prison is a taboo subject for many people. Even though multiple efforts are being made, the state institutions have limited resources, which cannot cover the needs of this social group. In 2008, there were released from the Romanian prisons approximately 11.000 inmates and according to the balance sheet of the Administration of National Penitentiaries from 2008, 5000 of them are recidivists.
Rescue Humanitarian Foundation from Cluj-Napoca is developing a project that has as main purpose to facilitate social reintegration and labour
market integration of the inmates. The name of the project is Having a New Dynamic Life Through Employment ”, it is funded by the European
Commission through Grundtvig Programme and made in partnership with other three institutions from Spain, Portugal and Lithuania.
The projects includes a wide variety of activities: training for the development of abilities, work visits and exchange of experience at the organisations that are in partnership with, meetings with public authorities and with nongovernmental associations that are involved in social reintegration of these people.
Business environment is very little interested in supporting the reintegration process, mainly because of the low level of facilities that they may benefit of. There are few non-governmental organisations with activities in this field. They may cover a very small part of counselling and assistance activities necessary in this wide and complex area of the reintegration process.
In this context, on 16th July, Rescue Humanitarian Foundation organizes the event named “Social reintegration and labour market integration of inmates. Possibilities and perspectives”. The purpose of this meeting, made in project named “Having a New Dynamic Life Through Employment” is developing the cooperation of the social actors, in order to find realistic solutions based on resources and local expertise for the reintegration of inmates in society and on labour market.
The meeting will take place on Friday,16th July, at 12.00 at Sunrise Saloon from SunGarden Hotel, situated in Baciu.
