A new leisure alternative in Aiud Prison

At the request of Aiud Prison management Rescue Humanitarian Foundation provided an outdoor table tennis that will be used by inmates from Maximum Security Department, which by nature of penalty regime does not have access to sports and other leisure facilities douring their walking time.
Playing table tennis is one way that inmates can develop pro-social attitudes and teamwork, hopping that in the future are going to be held in prison championships between inmates from the Maximum Security Department.
We are glad that we succeded in this way to improve conditions of detention and help to create a more pleasant atmosphere for work and life for the prisoners.

More than that, I am sure that He can, through studying the Bible, change my life the way he wants it to be, so that I can be light where light is needed, so that I can pray for and with those in need, so that I can give an advice for those around me, but especially to tell everyone about the God’s Love.
I will ask Jesus Christ to help you continue with the penitentiary work you are doing.

Christian Programme in Vaslui Prison

By God's help and with the support of Rescue Foundation, on April 30th  we went to the prison in Vaslui for a cultural-religious program.
We were a group of 6 people –Vaduva Marius, Vaduva Emanuela (my wife), Cornel Secareanu, George Profir, Neamtu Lenuta and Cana Florinel.
Approximately 30 prisoners took part in the  meeting. We had a time of praise and worship, led by George Profir on keyboard and Cornel Secareanu on guitar, while Vaduva Emanuela and Neamtu Lenuta recited poems.
The biblical message was from Isaiah 53. We talked about the humility, suffering, death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus. We believe, from what we've seen, that it was a blessed time and that the message and our serving was received by the  people.
In the end we distributed Christian literature and gave them the address of our church in case they wanted to write us.
Thank you for your help. May the Lord bless you

Easter Celebration in Arad Prison
On a Thursday, April 21st 2011, a group of young people was waiting at the entrance of the maximum security prison in Arad. The heart can feel that emptiness and in one's mind there is the thought that no matter one's past, every man has a soul that Christ died for.
Once in the conference room, 54 prisoners are seated each in his place. Just by watching them, we realize once again that no matter how short or long their sentence is, seeing people from the outside brings that nostalgic feeling upon them and emotions hard to explain.
Knowing that around holidays, Christ is packed with different sparkles (bunnies, red eggs) we tried once again to make them aware of the fact that celebrating Easter is nothing but Jesus' death and the resurrection. Detention creates discomfort, pain, regrets, depression, introversion, stress and turmoil, but in spite of these feelings, they can be washed and set free by the blood that was shed at the cross by Jesus Christ.

God's Love through
the thick walls of Aiud Prison

All things have a beginning. We planned this outing a year ago and we thought of it being an outing for our youth group, as a means of knowing different ways to serve and get involved in our Lord's ministry. I did not set as a goal to do all the things from Matthew 25:35, but I wanted to create opportunities for my brothers to find their calling and to walk in the good works that God prepared beforehand.

Easter celebration with teenagers  from Aiud Prison

Thursday, 20th of April together with a group of volunteers from Baptist Church no.1 Manastur, Cluj-Napoca, we  realized a meeting with teenagers from Aiud Prison, celebrating the Easter. This was a great opportunity to make God know to these young souls. We spent all morning with a group of eleven convicted teenagers under 18 years. After we sang a few songs about Easter, we told them our personal testimonies, how God found us and changed our lives. The youth listened without interruptions. God gave us the wisdom to encourage this youth to do good things. We pray that God will work to their souls and make them to find their inner peace.
At the end of the meeting we had a moment to talk with each one serving a cake and a juice, and also we gave them a small present with hygiene product, a t-shirt, a pair of shoes, and sweets.
We thank God for this successful meeting we have had and also to our sponsors for their help to make the presents.

Joy and sadness – that is how we would call March 8th 2011 in Aiud Prison. Holidays cannot be beautiful in a prison, away from family and dear friends. They are sad moments when memories creep in and bring pain... knowing this, we, from the Rescue foundation went to the prison in Aiud with the intention of showing compassion,  appreciation and some of God's love to the women there. We passed the two gates and made it to the room where the women were waiting for us. Some of them had participated in the programs done by Rescue foundation. We greeted them and looked at their faces: the women were smiling, but their smile had some sad bitterness and it was as if the joy of the moment was tempered by how much they missed their families...

In 2008, there were released from the Romanian prisons approximately 11.000 inmates and according to the balance sheet of the Administration of National Penitentiaries from 2008, 5000 of them are recidivists.
