 • ACTIVITIES - PREVENTION - Brussell conference ”Communicating health, the tobaco exemple”

During 9-11 of October, the psychologist of Rescue Foundation, participated at a conference in Brussell, having the topic “Comunicating health, the tobacco campaign”.The conference was organized by the European Commission, and its aim was to present the results of HELP Program, unfolded in 2006-2008 in all countries of European Union, and to develop recommendations for future action regarding smoking.

Rescue Humanitarian Foundation, had the statute of foundation involved in implementing the program among the young population in Romania.

At this conference participated members of Europen Union, public health department directors, members of some  international organizations having as object of activity the refutal of smoking, ministers of health from different european countries, university teachers from prestigious european universities, members of european youth organizations ( European Youth Forum).

On the 1st day, examples of good practice had been presented by different european countries involved in this program. On the 2nd day, 5 groups of discussion had been formed, where every participant had the possibility to share his/her experience in the program, the results and the limits of the program.. At the end of the meeting, the participants elaborated recommendations in the following five key areas:

  • how to engage with young europeans
  • the use of new media in public health
  • the need to investigate new ways to trigger behaviour change
  • the importance of reaching out to disadvantaged groups
  • the need to share best practice across public health
