 • EVANGHELIZATION in Aiud and Arad Penitentiaries

December Mission
Report by Steve Dulwich

Aiud

Eight young people from Cluj came with us to sing at the meetings in Aiud prison. One of the young men from the group shared his testimony and a young lady read a poem with a gospel message.

There was a great response to the preaching and we prayed for some of the men individually. The prisoners also asked us to give thanks to everyone involved in this ministry, and they said they were praying for us and hoped that we would have a blessed Christmas and New Year.

We also heard some terrible news from the officers in Aiud. Since our last visit one of the prisoners had been murdered in his cell. It was a shock to us because the murdered man had committed his life to Christ and was always at the meetings. We had with us the photographs of him taken in one of the previous meetings, so the staff took the pictures to give to his family. He was due to be released in the near future.

Arad

We had five meetings in Arad prison. A singing team of nine young people came with us. They also read some poems and one shared a word from the scripture. At one meeting the men told us how grateful they were for the meetings. At another meeting a man read Psalm 23. It is very nice when the men are active in the meetings.

Cluj Prison

Most of the women who we used to see in Aiud prison were moved earlier in the year to Cluj. We had not been able to visit them before but this time we got permission to have a meeting with the women in Cluj prison. A small group of us went and when the women who had been in Aiud saw us they were very surprised but happy. Not all of them could attend the meeting as they were locked up on the other section but they saw us as we walked past. Two women who were at the meeting told us they will soon be released. Both of them are now committed Christians. Another lady told us that her sister has terminal cancer and many of the women have been praying for her. It is such a blessing to see these women living for Jesus in the prison.
